City Council to meet on Jan. 6

The Mesquite City Council meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person.

Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister by either sending an email to sland@cityofmesquite.com or calling 972-329-8388 before 3 p.m. on Jan. 6. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on Jan. 6 to the City Secretary.

Meeting agendas can be viewed online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

City hosts Town Hall Tuesday

The City of Mesquite will host a town hall meeting to share information about progress on local streets and projects at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/TownHallTuesdays to learn more.

Recycle your Christmas tree

Start the new year off right by recycling your real Christmas tree. Fir trees are biodegradable, which means they can be reused or recycled for mulch and other purposes. Either place your tree out for collection starting on Wednesday, Jan. 8, where you normally put your trash for collection, or drop it off at the Compost Facility and Convenience Center, 3550 Lawson Road. Holiday Closures and Service Impacts

All City offices will be closed on Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Mesquite Metro Airport and the Compost Facility and Convenience Center will remain open. Commercial and Residential trash will be collected, as well as Commercial recycling. Residential recycling will not be collected. Residential recycling collection will resume on the next scheduled collection day.
