Holiday closures and service impacts

The City's Recreation Centers will be closed on Dec. 31 except for Evans, which will be open from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. All City offices will be closed  Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day. The Airport will remain open. Commercial and Residential trash and recycling will not be collected on Jan. 1. Collection will resume on the next scheduled collection day. This holiday season, avoid attracting pests and paying for expensive plumbing repairs by properly disposing of food waste. Remember to put trash out the day of your trash collection instead of letting it sit out. MLK Parade and Celebration

The City of Mesquite will honor the life and message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with its annual parade and celebration on Saturday, Jan. 18. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a parade through downtown Mesquite. The celebration continues at 1 p.m. with a community gathering at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Recycle your christmas tree graphic

Recycle your Christmas tree

Start the new year off right by recycling your real Christmas tree. Fir trees are biodegradable, which means they can be reused or recycled for mulch and other purposes. Either place your tree out for collection starting on Wednesday, Jan. 8, where you normally put your trash for collection, or drop it off at the Compost Facility and Convenience Center, 3550 Lawson Road.
