Celebrate the season with Real. Texas. Holidays.

Real. Texas. Holidays. continues with Christmas at the Ranch at 10 a.m. and the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra's "Holiday Carols" performances at 4:30 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 14. Families can also enjoy a holiday spectacular at Christmas in the Park from 2-8 p.m. on Dec. 14-15 in Westlake Park. Find out about all of the holiday events in Mesquite here.

Holiday food waste disposal tips

This holiday season, avoid attracting pests and paying for expensive plumbing repairs by properly disposing of food waste. Put trash out the day of your trash collection instead of letting it sit out. Consider freezing your food waste until collection day. Also, scrape cooled grease or fat into the trash, or pour it into a closed-lid container and throw away. Residents may recycle used cooking oil for free at the City of Mesquite Convenience Center, 3550 Lawson Road. Learn more at www.cityofmesquite.com/FOG.

Holiday closures and service impacts

All City offices will be Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1 in observance of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day. The Airport will remain open. Residential and Commercial Trash will be collected on Dec. 24, but no recycling will be collected. Commercial and Residential trash and recycling will not be collected on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
