Veterans Day event

Veterans Day event celebrates service

The City of Mesquite, in partnership with American Legion Post 504 and VFW Post 8785, will host a Veterans Day event to celebrate the bravery and service of our military heroes at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Mesquite Veterans Memorial, 425 S. Galloway Ave. 

This year’s Veterans Day program will include remarks by various community leaders and military veterans, ceremonial activities, musical performances and more.

Bilingual Town Hall

Bilingual Q&A at Town Hall Tuesday

The City of Mesquite will host a bilingual Q&A at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 at Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave.

Residents are invited to submit questions regarding Neighborhood Services, Police and the Fire Department. Those who are interested can submit their questions at www.cityofmesquite.com/TownHallTuesdays.


Mesquite Skatepark

Mesquite opens first skatepark

The public is invited to attend the Mesquite Skatepark grand opening event from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Westlake Sports Center, 601 Gross Road. 

The event will feature demonstrations by skateboard professionals associated with the Skatepark’s designer, American Ramp Company. Guests are encouraged to bring their skateboards to try out the new facility. Free hot dogs will be provided.

Upcoming performances by the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra

Become immersed in the sounds of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Orchestra will perform Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” at 3 p.m. at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 N. Galloway Ave.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Orchestra will present "Come Sunday" at 7 p.m. The program will include selections by Pelka, Thomas and Fillmore.

Serve on a board or commission

The City of Mesquite is looking for new partners to serve on one of its boards or commissions. We’re looking for engaged citizens to volunteer their time, knowledge and expertise to make a difference in their community. 

By serving on a board or commission, you can have an active voice, be involved in your community and advise the City Council and staff on a wide range of services areas.

Turkey Camp

Sign ups for Turkey Camp now open

Calling all campers! Students in kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to register for this year's Turkey Camp. Campers can spend a day or the entire week playing games, creating holiday crafts and engaging in other fun activities. 

Camp will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 25-29 at Dunford Recreation Center and Rutherford Recreation Center. There will not be camp on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. A one-day outdoor adventure Turkey Camp will be offered at Rorie-Galloway Day Camp on Nov. 25. The fee is $20 per day, per resident, and $30 per day, per non-resident.
