Traditional push-in ceremony places new fire engine into service
On Feb. 11, firefighters at Fire Station #2 placed a new fire engine into service with a traditional push-in ceremony. The housing ceremony is a proud tradition in the history of fire service in which firefighters push a new engine into the station for the first time. The tradition dates back to the 1800s when firefighters used horse-drawn equipment. After returning to the station after a fire call, the horses could not easily back the equipment into the station, so they were disconnected from the fire equipment and firefighters would push the equipment back into the bay themselves.

NTMWD annual water system maintenance to begin March 1
The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will temporarily change the disinfectant in its water treatment process from March 1 through March 29, 2022. The annual, routine change is necessary to maintain the regional system and year-round water quality. During the change, NTMWD suspends adding ammonia and uses free chlorine to keep water disinfected as it travels through pipes. It's important to do this before summer because hotter temperatures can increase the potential for bacterial growth in pipes. The water remains safe to drink and use every day. For more information, visit www.NTMWD/safewater.
