City Council meets March 15

Mesquite City Council will meet on March 15 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. The Pre-Meeting begins at 5 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B, followed by a Work Session at 6:30 p.m. and the Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. All persons present at the meeting location must observe social distancing by remaining a minimum of six (6) feet from other meeting participants and must wear a covering over their nose and mouth. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. on March 15 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216-6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Mesquite to host March 20 Bunny Trail Drive-Through Event

The City of Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department will host a drive-through Easter egg event. The Bunny Trail is Saturday, March 20, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westlake Park, 601 Gross Road. The free event will feature goody bags and professional photos with the Easter Bunny. Learn more.

Mesquite Tri-East NAACP hosts Black-Owned Business Symposium

The Mesquite Tri-East NAACP will host a virtual Mesquite Black-Owned Business Symposium on Saturday, March 20 at 10 a.m. There will be a panel interview with business leaders and city officials to provide information to business owners on how to grow their business as well as presentations on programs about advertising and networking for business success. The City of Mesquite hosted the fourth Annual Neighborhood Summit on Saturday, March 6. The Zoom event included guest speaker Catherine Huckaby, City of Fort Worth’s Community Engagement Manager, and a forum for participants to speak with City of Mesquite leaders. Mesquite Arts Center Spring Break crafts

The Mesquite Arts Council is offering a new craft everyday during Mesquite ISD Spring Break, March 15 – 19. The crafts are part of the MAC’s Tote and Go Program, which are first-come, first-serve. Craft kits will be available for pick up starting at 12 p.m. inside the Mesquite Arts Center front lobby through a contactless service every day. Learn more.

The Mesquite Main Library is offering free jobseeker support sessions. Schedule a 30-minute session in person or by phone.
