City Council meets Nov. 16


Mesquite City Council will meet on Nov. 16 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. The Pre-Meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B, followed by the Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. All persons present at the meeting location must observe social distancing by remaining a minimum of six (6) feet from other meeting participants and must wear a covering over their nose and mouth. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. on Nov. 16 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216-6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on Nov. 16 to the following email address: sland@cityofmesquite.com.  View meeting agendas online. The City of Mesquite held a swearing in ceremony for new Municipal Court Judge Detra Hill. Judge Hill becomes the first female presiding municipal court judge in the history of Mesquite. Hill was appointed on Oct. 19 by the Mesquite City Council. She has served as Assistant City Attorney since 2014. Learn more.

Mesquite dedicates the new Mesquite Veterans Memorial


The City of Mesquite held a small, private ceremony to dedicate the new Mesquite Veterans Memorial. The memorial is located near City Lake Park at 425 S. Galloway Avenue. In recognition of Veterans Day, the City has extended the deadline to Dec. 18 for the public to purchase a personalized brick to be installed at the memorial. Mayor proclaims Nov. 11 Bobby Robinson Day


On Nov. 11, Mesquite Mayor Bruce Archer presented a special proclamation to Mesquite resident, Bobby Robinson, in honor of his contributions to the Mesquite community, including serving as a member of the North Texas Municipal Water District Board of Directors from 1995 – 2017 and as a City Councilmember from 1961 – 1964. Mesquite offers free mental counseling and referral services


The City of Mesquite has announced it is offering its residents access to free mental health counseling and referral services through a new partnership with the AZAR Foundation. Mayor Bruce Archer discusses the program on his monthly radio program on KEOM. Residents can call 833-298-9111 to schedule a virtual or in-person session for individuals, couples and groups. Utility Billing Office offering longer-term payment plans


On Jan. 5, 2021, the City of Mesquite will resume water disconnections if there is a past due balance. Longer-term payment plans are available to help residents who are struggling to pay their City water bills due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City can offer a payment plan that fits their unique situation. Call the Utility Billing Office at 972-216-6208 (press 0) to discuss your options.
