Census 2020 to begin in March


Starting next week, households will receive an invitation from the U.S. Census Bureau to complete the 2020 Census. The Census will be available in 13 different languages and the Census Bureau will provide support in 59 different languages. Data from Census 2020 will determine how much federal funding Mesquite will receive for education, healthcare, housing and more. To learn more, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/Census2020. City issues statement on Coronavirus


The City of Mesquite is aware of the reported threat of the new coronavirus. The safety of our citizens and community is the top priority. As of March 6, we have no knowledge of a direct threat to the Mesquite Community. The city will continue to provide updates on any local impacts of the coronavirus. Mesquite’s Project Porch Light encourages neighborhood engagement


The City of Mesquite’s new program called Project Porch Light, encourages engagement of residents in creating a more active and safer community. This effort is a collaborative partnership between the City and its neighborhoods to get more people involved by reaching out to their neighbors and discussing safety and other neighborhood issues. Mesquite Animal Services has received calls recently regarding coyote sightings. If you see a coyote that appears to be sick, injured or acting aggressively, call 911 immediately. If you know of a coyote living in your neighborhood, please report it through the myMesquite platform or call Mesquite Animal Services at 972-216-6283. For a list of tips and precautions click here.

Public Input Meeting

City requests citizen input on HUD grants on March 10


The City of Mesquite will have four public meetings to receive input from citizens on how to spend the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant funds during the next five years. The first meeting is scheduled for March 10 at the Mesquite Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive from 12 to 1 p.m. Learn more.

Water Billing Office closes early on March 27

The Water Billing Office will close at 1 p.m. on March 27 for a system upgrade. The payment website will also be down for maintenance at that time. The Water Billing Office will reopen on Monday, March 30 at 8 a.m. Learn more.

Job assistance program on March 30


The City of Mesquite Human Resources Department will hold another Resume and Interviewing Skills Seminar on March 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mesquite Main Library, 300 W Grubb Drive. This seminar is geared to help residents with their resumes, job applications or interview techniques. The last seminar was very successful and filled up quickly. Annual change in water disinfectant scheduled from March 2 to March 30


The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will temporarily change the disinfectant in its water treatment process until March 30. The annual, routine change is necessary to maintain the regional system and year-round water quality. Learn more about the change.
