Traffic Engineering

The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of traffic signals, freeway lighting, school zones flashers, and local street traffic signs & markings within the City of Mesquite.  

This department is also responsible for coordinating with other agencies at the local, county, and state level to better plan, fund, design, and construct transportation projects.

Three interstates and one U.S. highway passes through the city of Mesquite: IH-635, IH-20, IH-30 and U.S. 80.  These roads combine with a coordinated traffic signal timing pattern to form a network of roadways which allow citizens to travel to destinations as efficiently and safely as possible.
