Mesquite homeowners will receive aid through the HOME program based upon staff referrals from the City of Mesquite Code Enforcement Department. Volunteer groups and contractor partners, providing services at reduced costs, will perform exterior house and yard repairs. Overall management of the program will be the responsibility of the Neighborhood Services Department.
There are three ways to get involved with the HOME initiative.
- Volunteer: The HOME program is similar to Addressing Mesquite Day (AMD) in that projects are completed by volunteers. Past AMD groups and new groups who have reached out to the City will be the first targeted for assistance. If you have a group that is interested in participating in the HOME initiative, please contact Estefania Sosa at 972-216-6348.
- Contractors: Contractors are needed for instances where the code violations at a HOME house require extensive work. The HOME initiative is seeking referrals for contractors who may be willing to charge reduced rates as part of participation in the program.
- Donors: The HOME initiative is also seeking donations from the community in support of the program. Since the remediation of code violations occurs on private property, City funds cannot be used and community support is needed. City staff has developed a fundraising program with the following recognition levels:
Resident Level Giving
- $25-$99: Friend
- $99-$249: Neighbor
- $250 and above: Community Builder
Business Partner Giving
- $100-$999: Partner
- $1,000-$2,499: Benefactor
- $2,500 and above: Investor
