The Building Inspection Division cannot release gas to Atmos without an inspection and a Plumbing permit is required for ALL gas inspections. In order to obtain a Plumbing permit, you MUST be a homeowner or a Licensed Master Plumber. The homeowner or Licensed Master Plumber must apply for a permit at energov.cityofmesquite.com and do the required work, then call Building Inspection Division for an inspection. Once it passes inspection, the City of Mesquite will release the gas to Atmos.
Most construction and remodel jobs require permits. The best way to find out if you need a permit is to contact the City of Mesquite Building Inspection Office at either (972) 216-6212 or (972) 216-6213 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Listed below are some of the most common types of permits:
Certificate of Occupancy
Driveway / Sidewalk
Roof Repairs and Replacements
New A/C or Furnace
New Electric Service or Repairs
Patio Patio Covers
ALL Pools - Spas - Hot Tubs
Sewer or Water Line Repairs
Special Promotion (Commercial)
Moving of Buildings and Heavy Equipment
Temporary Sign Permits
(2): If the garage sale is commercial and held outside, a special promotion permit is required. If the garage sale is commercial and held inside, no permit is necessary.
Inspectors leave green or red tags when they have completed an inspection. A green tag indicates a property has passed the inspection and a red tag indicates the property has failed the inspection. If the property has failed the inspection, a detailed Inspection Report will be provided for you on your account on the Citizen Access Portal. Please visit CITIZEN ACCESS PORTAL and Log On to your account for in-depth inspection details.
