  1. Lanny Quarles: Collage / Ink Series

    January 11, 2021, 8:00 AM - March 27, 2021, 5:00 PM @ Main Gallery

Please join the Mesquite Arts Council as they present artists Lanny Quarles to the main gallery of the Mesquite Arts Center. Quarles’ Collage Series was originally commissioned by Cecil Touchon's Santa Fe, NM gallery for a group show and later for a solo exhibition. The works focus on finding ways in which the materials at hand elicit their own voices and expressionisms in a conversation with the artist or viewer. The Ink Series follows a long period of working in asemic or abstract writing techniques. Originally working on long sumi-e scrolls on rice paper, these works followed an even more "all-over" approach, while retaining many of the same writing, or calligraphy inspired methods of mark-making.
