September 16, 2020, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Town East Mall
On Wednesday, September 16th, 2020 between the hours of 8 am to 1 pm, the Mesquite Police Department' Auto Theft Division will be conducting ‘free’ VIN etching on the windows of automobiles in the parking lot of Sears located at Town East Mall. VIN etching is the permanent engraving of a vehicle's federally registered vehicle identification number (VIN) onto its windshield and windows. VIN etching is used as a countermeasure to motor vehicle theft and potentially reduces the value of a stolen vehicle to thieves along with aiding law enforcement in the identification and recovery of stolen vehicles or vehicle parts. The process typically takes five (5) minutes per window to complete and is free for all Mesquite residents.
