Early voting is April 22-30 for the City of Mesquite 2019 Special Election. On the ballot, residents can vote on a proposition to sell more than 171 acres of designated park land located outside Mesquite city limits. If approved, proceeds from the land sale will fund enhancements to Mesquite’s park and recreation system.
Early voting in Mesquite takes place at Florence Recreation Center, 2501 Whitson Way, and Lakeside Activity Center, 101 Holley Park Drive, at the following times:
April 22-26 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
April 27 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
April 28 – 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
April 29-30 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Safely dispose of unused medication during the Drug Take-Back Event, April 27. Hosted by Mesquite Police Department (MPD), the disposal event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the MPD lobby, 777 N. Galloway Ave. Residents may bring their expired, unwanted or unused medications and deposit them for destruction.
Controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter medication accepted. Unwanted or expired medications owned by businesses not accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in the original container.
Due to the potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens, intravenous solutions and syringes not accepted. Illegal substances are not part of this program—please do not place these items in the collection containers.
The program is part of a Drug Enforcement Administration initiative to bring awareness to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. Learn more about Drug Take-Back Day at DEATakeBack.com.

The City of Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department invites you to sleep under the stars at Camp Rorie Galloway. Activities will include a bonfire, the ropes course, zip lining, gaga ball, games, crafts and lots of fun. Included is dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning.
