Mesquite Arts Center hosts local artist, Ed Zarate. Ed Zarate is a self taught artist whose works are products of his sociotheological reflections. For him, art is a spiritual practice & a powerful witness as well as a fine tool for self and social transformation. He invites his viewers to engage in a dialogue, self reflection & enter into a sacred place to experience the Divine.
He started painting back in the Philippines, his motherland, in search for meaning and hope in the midst of social unrest. This exhibit is an attempt to look back "Paglingon" to recapture and re-live those memories.
Ed is an ordained Methodist minister serving St. Marks United Methodist Church in Mesquite, Texas, and lives with his family in Forney.
Reception/Meet the artist will be on September 10th, Monday @ 7:00pm.

City Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month. The meetings are re-scheduled to the next Tuesday when it conflicts with a City holiday that falls on a Monday meeting date. The start time is published once the agenda is finalized and posted online. Per State law, agendas are posted a minimum of 72 hours in advance of the meeting start time. Residents may sign-up through “Notify Me” on the City’s website to receive email notification when a new City Council agenda has been posted.

There is a mix of songs, rhymes, finger plays, and books. However, there is a greater emphasis on books, on longer stories with more challenging content, and on independent participation by the kids. Children will be introduced to group participation, and caregivers will learn some songs and rhymes to share with their children at home. This program is an opportunity for children to mature socially and developmentally in preparation for school. Sounds, letter recognition, and new words that will help them grow into pre-readers all while having fun. Program length: approx. 30 minutes. This program is recommended for children 3 to 5 years old.
