City Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month. The meetings are re-scheduled to the next Tuesday when it conflicts with a City holiday that falls on a Monday meeting date. The start time is published once the agenda is finalized and posted online. Per State law, agendas are posted a minimum of 72 hours in advance of the meeting start time. Residents may sign-up through “Notify Me” on the City’s website to receive email notification when a new City Council agenda has been posted. The City of Mesquite will hold public hearings during Regular City Council Meetings at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19, and Monday, April 2, to discuss proposed changes in public transportation for the City of Mesquite Passenger Shuttle (COMPASS) service. The public hearings will take place in City Hall Council Chambers, 757 N. Galloway Ave. An additional public hearing will be held on Thursday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. The intent of the proposed schedule adjustment is to better match ridership patterns tracked over the past several years. Each public hearing will include a brief presentation by City staff followed by a public question and comment session. Transportation is available to the public hearings. AARP will provide free tax assistance for all citizens on a first come, first served basis. Volunteers to assist will be available during the months February, March and April. No appointments will be made.
