  1. Early Voting: City of Mesquite 2019 Special Election

    April 22, 2019, 8:00 AM - April 30, 2019, 7:00 PM

    Early voting is April 22-30 for the City of Mesquite 2019 Special Election. On the ballot, residents can vote on a proposition to sell more than 171 acres of designated park land located outside Mesquite city limits. If approved, proceeds from the land sale will fund enhancements to Mesquite’s park and recreation system. Early voting in Mesquite takes place at Florence Recreation Center, 2501 Whitson Way, and Lakeside Activity Center, 101 Holley Park Drive, at the following times: April 22-26 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 27 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 28 – 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 29-30 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election Day is May 4, 2019.   3. Drug Take-Back Event

    April 27, 2019, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

    Safely dispose of unused medication during the Drug Take-Back Event, April 27. Hosted by Mesquite Police Department (MPD), the disposal event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the MPD lobby, 777 N. Galloway Ave. Residents may bring their expired, unwanted or unused medications and deposit them for destruction. Controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter medication accepted. Unwanted or expired medications owned by businesses not accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in the original container. Due to the potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens, intravenous solutions and syringes not accepted. Illegal substances are not part of this program—please do not place these items in the collection containers. The program is part of a Drug Enforcement Administration initiative to bring awareness to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.     Tuesdays, January 22 - April 23, 2019. Preschool Storytime is at both the Mesquite Main and North Branch Library. There is a mix of songs, rhymes, finger plays, and books. However, there is a greater emphasis on books, on longer stories with more challenging content, and on independent participation by the kids. Children will be introduced to group participation, and caregivers will learn some songs and rhymes to share with their children at home. This program is an opportunity for children to mature socially and developmentally in preparation for school. Sounds, letter recognition, and new words that will help them grow into pre-readers all while having fun. Program length: approx. 30 minutes.
