Mesquite students return to school beginning Monday, August 28. Please remember to Drive Like Your Family Lives Here and watch the video "It's a Two Way Street" with safety tips from Mesquite City Manager Cliff Keheley and Mesquite ISD Superintendent Dr. David Vroonland. City of Mesquite and STAR Transit closed on September 4

All City of Mesquite offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday with the exception of the Mesquite Metro Airport. Trash and recycling will not be collected. Collection will occur on residents' next scheduled collection day. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/Holidays for more details on City holiday closures.

Town Hall Tuesday to be held on August 29


The City of Mesquite will host its next Town Hall Tuesday on August 29 from 7 - 8 p.m. at Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. The program will provide an opportunity to learn how to connect with the City, report service issues and become involved through volunteer activities. Mesquite adopts out all animals at Mesquite Animal Shelter during
Clear the Shelters event


On August 19, almost 100 pets, including a rabbit, were adopted from the Mesquite Animal Shelter during the national pet adoption drive called “Clear the Shelters.” During the one-day free adoption event, the shelter adopted out 53 dogs, 39 cats and one rabbit. 2016-2017 budget receives national recognition


The City of Mesquite has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for the 2016-2017 Annual Operating Budget.  This is the 29th time the City has been recognized with the national award. It is the highest award presented in governmental budgeting. The 2016-2017 Annual Operating Budget is located on the City’s website at www.cityofmesquite.com/budget.

FedEx Ground, located at 5005 Samuell Boulevard in Mesquite, is now hiring package handlers. Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age; able to load, unload and sort packages; as well as perform other related duties. Pay is up to $12.10 per hour to start. MACCO bodyshop hosts grand opening celebration in Mesquite

Mesquite recently welcomed one of the newest businesses to the community, MAACO, located at 3216 Interstate 30. MAACO, known as America's Bodyshop, held a grand opening celebration with family-friendly activities. Mayor Stan Pickett and Councilmember Bruce Archer attended the event to welcome the new business owners to Mesquite.
