First draft of Comprehensive Plan to be presented at Town Hall Tuesday on July 30

View the first public draft of the City’s new Comprehensive Plan during Town Hall Tuesday, 7 p.m. July 30 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. City staff will present key elements of the plan to solicit comments and answer questions. The Comprehensive Plan is the long-term vision used by your City Council and decision makers to inform decisions on growth, development and revitalization of the city. Mesquite Animal Services
offers Spread the Love dog
adoption special

Through Aug. 3, Mesquite Animal Services will offer $10 off dog adoptions with the donation of a jar of peanut butter or jelly to the Spread the Love campaign. A maximum of five jars may be donated for a total of $50 off each adoption. Donations must be brought to Mesquite Animal Services, 1650 Gross Road, at the time of adoption. Cats may currently be adopted for $5 each. Adoption fees include sterilization, vaccinations and microchipping. Call 972-216-6283 for more information. STAR Transit offers Public Comment Form on Mesquite transportation through Aug. 5

On July 22, STAR Transit held a public meeting to obtain citizen input regarding transportation in Mesquite, including changes to the Mesquite COMPASS route and the addition of Mobility on Demand. Register to vote at certain City facilities through Oct. 4

The Mesquite City Council recently passed an ordinance to establish designated voter registration sites at certain City facilities. Through Oct. 4, citizens can register to vote at the following locations: the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 1515 N. Galloway Ave.; the Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive; and the North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Drive. Watch a brief video on the Voter Registration Program in English or in Spanish for hours of service and more information. D Magazine features Mesquite Symphony Orchestra’s first Composer-in-Residence

D Magazine recently featured Mesquite Symphony Orchestra (MSO) Composer-in-Residence Kevin Day in its Arts and Entertainment section. Day is the first MSO Composer-in-Residence and will begin his residency this fall with the start of the 2019-2020 season for a two-year term through July 31, 2021. Doggie Splash Day to be held on Aug. 10

Doggie Splash Day will be held on Aug. 10, 9 a.m. - noon, at Vanston Pool, 2913 Oates Drive. Dogs and their owners will have a great time swimming together and participating in the doggie swimsuit contest, pet/owner look-a-like contest, dog paddle race and doggie dive contest. The cost of admission is $5 for one owner and one pet, $2 for each additional pet and $1 for spectators. Proof of current vaccinations required.
