Santa Cop Toy Program assists
more than 270 families

The Mesquite Police Department Santa Cop Toy Program provided Christmas gifts to more than 270 families and 766 children this year. In addition to the tremendous amount of toys donated by Mesquite citizens and civic organizations, over $33,000 in monetary donations was spent to assist the families. Thank you to the Mesquite community and numerous sponsors for your overwhelming support for this important program.

Daddy Daughter Dance tickets
on sale

The Daddy Daughter Dance, sponsored by the Hampton Inn and Suites, will be held Friday, February 3 at the Mesquite Convention Center, 1700 Rodeo Drive. Two sessions, open to all ages, are available from 6 - 8 p.m. and 8:30 - 10:30 p.m. Participants may choose which session they wish to attend. Tickets are expected to sell out. As a result, tickets must be purchased in advance and will no longer be sold at the door. Tickets may be purchased for $15 per person, per session at any Mesquite recreation center or at the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 1515 N. Galloway Avenue. City offices closed for
Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Most City of Mesquite offices will be closed on Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Trash and recycling will not be collected. Vanston Park renovations
on schedule

The demolition work, site grading and underground storm drainage system have been completed at Vanston Park, 2913 Oates Drive. Fencing installation for the new baseball fields has begun and the fields are on schedule to be ready for spring play. Renovations to the 14-acre park include two new lighted baseball fields, a lighted basketball court, a new shade shelter with picnic tables adjacent to the concessions building, a looped walking trail and extensive parking. The project is expected to be completed by late March 2017.
