City Council to meet Feb. 20


Mesquite City Council meets Monday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Face coverings are optional for attendees, but the city will continue to implement social distancing measures with limited seating. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. on Feb. 20 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216-6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on Feb. 20 to the following email address: sland@cityofmesquite.com. View meeting agendas online. City reports sales tax collections for February


The City of Mesquite February sales tax receipts, which represent sales activity for the month of December, was 8.0% above the amount reported for the same period last year. The current increase in sales activity is driven primarily by manufacturing and utilities. Sales tax contributes 27% of the total revenue used to support the General Fund. The City uses the General Fund for services including police, fire, parks and recreation, libraries, neighborhood services and public works.

Spring Break Camp


Send your kids to Spring Break Camp for a day or week of fun at Dunford Recreation Center, 1015 Green Canyon, or Camp Rorie Galloway, 3100 Lawson Road. Camps are for kindergarten through sixth grade students and operate Monday, March 13 through Friday, March 17 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Dunford daily fee is $20 per resident/$30 per non-resident, Camp Rorie Galloway daily fee is $25 per resident/$35 per non-resident.
