City Council to meet Oct. 17


Mesquite City Council meets October 17 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Face coverings are optional for attendees, but the city will continue to implement social distancing measures with limited seating. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. October 17 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216- 6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on October 3 to the following email address: sland@cityofmesquite.com. View meeting agendas online. The City broadcasts meetings via Facebook Live and at www.cityofmesquite.com/WatchCouncilMeetings.

City of Mesquite water increase


The City of Mesquite implemented a 9% increase in water rates that went into effect on October 1, 2022.  The rate adjustment is due to a 13% increase in the cost of water supplied by the North Texas Municipal Water District due to significant costs in the chemicals and labor needed to treat drinking water. Volunteers take part in Addressing Mesquite Day


On Saturday, Oct. 1, nearly 500 volunteers gathered throughout Mesquite to assist 70 homeowners with home projects such as painting, landscaping and other minor home exterior projects. This was all part of the 18th annual Addressing Mesquite Day. Learn more here.

PumpkinFest on Oct. 15


The 19th annual PumpkinFest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 12 – 5 p.m. at Paschall Park, 1001 New Market Road. This family friendly event celebrates the Fall season. Dress in your costume and come out to enjoy the festivities. This event features carnival games, bounce houses, activities for kids and more!
Admission is free, but concessions and some activities will have a cost. Learn more.

Fall Book Sale at the Library


The Friends of the Mesquite Public Library Member Preview Book Sale will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the Main Library meeting room. The Book Sale is open to the public on Friday, October 21 from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday, October 22 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Friends memberships will be available at the door. Dia de Los Muertos Celebration


Please join the Mesquite Arts Council for the  6th annual Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration. On October 29, from 4-7 PM. A variety of kid's activities, cultural entertainment, and visual experiences will be offered to educate the public on this Mexican holiday.
