City Council to meet May 2


Mesquite City Council meets May 2 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. Face coverings are optional for attendees, but the city will continue to implement social distancing measures with limited seating. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. May 2 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216- 6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on May 2 to the following email address: sland@cityofmesquite.com. View meeting agendas online. 2022 Redistricting Public Meeting


The City of Mesquite will host the last public input meeting on Council redistricting on Monday, May 2. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Mesquite City Hall, 757 North Galloway Avenue. Cinco de Mayo Celebration


Mesquite is excited to partner with Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, Unidos, and LULAC Mesquite, to offer a Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Saturday, May 7, from noon to 5 p.m. in Downtown Mesquite at Front Street Station. This family-friendly event will feature authentic Mexican food, live music, jalapeno eating contest, folklórico dancers, vendors and more. Admission is free. Learn more.

Mesquite Recycles Day on May 14


Mesquite Recycles Day will return on May14 at Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Drive, from 8 a.m. - noon. The free event provides Mesquite residents the opportunity to drop off a variety of reusable items, electronic-waste and offers professional document shredding. Learn more.

Mesquite PD Meritorious Awards


The Mesquite Police Department presented their annual Meritorious Awards during the April 18 City Council meeting. Each year the Meritorious Conduct Board reviews recommendations for employee awards based on outstanding acts or performances in which a citizen or officer brings credit to the department or community. Watch the full presentation here.

National Drug Take Back Day  


The Mesquite Police Department is proud to take part in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mesquite residents can bring any unwanted prescription drugs they wish to discard to the lobby of the Mesquite Police Department, 777 N. Galloway Ave. However, needles nor syringes will be accepted.
