Mesquite announces Clean City Initiative


The City of Mesquite announced its new Clean City Initiative, which is a program that combines the efforts of several City departments and programs to improve the appearance of our community. The plan is focused on an array of enhanced efforts including more public education, regularly scheduled litter programs, stronger enforcement tools and new beautification projects. Learn more. Keep Mesquite Beautiful holds Trash Bash on April 24


Keep Mesquite Beautiful (KMB) will hold its volunteer cleanup event, Trash Bash, on April 24. Trash Bash is an opportunity for families, neighbors and groups to get outside and help beautify the Mesquite community and is the first event that is part of the new Clean City Initiative. Volunteer groups will be limited to 10 people per group and volunteers will be provided trash grabbers, safety vests, disposable gloves and trash bags during a curbside pick-up from 8 - 9 a.m. Register as a group or online at www.cityofmesquite.com/TrashBash.

Mesquite hosts virtual public input meetings on new parks master plan


The City of Mesquite is beginning to develop a parks master plan and is seeking the community’s participation with two public input meetings at 6:30 p.m. on April 13 and April 22. Mesquite expands access to library services


The City of Mesquite’s Public Library System cardholders now have the option to pick-up and drop-off library materials at specific Parks and Recreation facilities, including Evans Recreation Center, Rutherford Recreation Center and Goodbar Senior Center. Cardholders can pick up and drop off printed books, audiobooks and movies. The public may call the Mesquite Public Library at 972-216-6220 for more details. Learn more.

Mesquite’s City Lake Park is designated a Lone Star Legacy Park


The City of Mesquite has earned a special recognition from the Texas Recreation and Parks Society, as City Lake Park was one of only eight Texas parks honored in 2021 with a prestigious Lone Star Legacy Park designation. A Lone Star Legacy designation is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a park in the state of Texas. AMBUCS donates to Sharing Life for Spread the Love Campaign

Mesquite AMBUCS donates to Spread the Love Campaign


April 2 was national Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, and to celebrate Mesquite AMBUCS donated $1,000 to Sharing Life Community Outreach as a part of the City of Mesquite’s Spread the Love program. Spread the Love is an annual campaign held April - August that encourages the donation of peanut butter and jelly as well as financial contributions to help feed children in Mesquite during the summer who live in food insecure environments. These children receive free or reduced lunch during the school year but need assistance to nutritious lunch during the summer break. Learn more.
