Monthly virtual community health forum on March 11


As a part of its continuing Recovery Mesquite efforts to help the community move forward and onward from the impacts of the pandemic, the City of Mesquite is holding a virtual Community Health Meeting on March 11 at 7 p.m. Lark Stewart with Mesquite ISD and Pam Folsom with the City's Parks and Recreation Department will discuss National Nutrition Month. Mesquite Tri-East NAACP hosts Black-Owned Business Symposium


The Mesquite Tri-East NAACP will host a virtual Mesquite Black-Owned Business Symposium on Saturday, March 20 at 10 a.m. There will be a panel interview with business leaders and city officials to provide information to business owners on how to grow their business as well as presentations on programs about advertising and networking for business success. Mesquite announces relief plan for its water utility customers


The City of Mesquite announced it will provide its water utility customers relief from excessive water used as a result of the winter storm. The city will automatically charge customers based on the lesser amount of the water usage when comparing February to January. There is no action required by customers to receive the benefits of the comparison usage. The City Council approved the relief plan at their March 1 meeting. Learn more.

Mesquite announces Emergency Home Repair Assistance Program


In response to the damage caused to homes in its community by last week’s winter storm, the City of Mesquite is promoting its Emergency Home Repair Assistance Program. This program is available to assist income-eligible homeowners in Mesquite with emergency home repairs. Homeowners can visit www.cityofmesquite.com/EmergencyHomeRepair to begin the application process or call the city’s Department of Community Services at 972-329-8332 for questions. Register for federal assistance at Mesquite libraries


The Mesquite Main Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive, and the North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Drive, are providing free access to public computers so individuals who sustained losses due to the storm can apply for federal assistance. Click here for instructions on how to start the recovery process. Annual Neighborhood Summit on March 6


The City of Mesquite will host the fourth Annual Neighborhood Summit on Saturday, March 6, from 9 – 11 a.m. The virtual summit will feature guest speaker Catherine Huckaby, City of Fort Worth’s Community Engagement Manager, and a forum for participants to speak with City of Mesquite leaders. Annual change in water disinfectant scheduled until March 29


The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will temporarily change the disinfectant in its water treatment process from March 1 through March 29. The annual, routine change is necessary to maintain the regional system and year-round water quality. Learn more.

The Mesquite Main Library is offering free jobseeker support sessions. Schedule a 30-minute session in person or by phone. Staff will offer assistance and resources to help with job applications resumes and practice interviews.
