Mesquite approves more than $5.5 million in new residential street repairs


On Oct. 5, the Mesquite City Council approved two separate contracts for a total of $5,586,886 in new residential street repairs. The repairs are a part of the ongoing Real. Texas. Roads. street bond program to repair roads in neighborhoods. Learn more.

Police Chief Charles Cato and his team have made it one of their primary goals to foster positive relationships between first responders and the citizens they serve and protect. Downtown Mesquite launched a new website this week to feature businesses, events, history and information aimed at entrepreneurs and property owners. The site www.DowntownMesquiteTX.com allows downtown business owners to upload new information of their operations. Visitors can create an itinerary of businesses to visit and special events to add to their calendar. Learn more.

Virtual public meeting for proposed animal ordinance changes


The City of Mesquite is seeking the public’s input on proposed changes to the City’s ordinances that address the care, treatment, control and regulations of animals in the city. There will be a Virtual Community Input meeting on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. Learn more.

Mesquite holds Addressing Mesquite Day


This year, City employees joined nearly 200 volunteers from churches, civic clubs, companies and more to aid homeowners during Addressing Mesquite Day.  Volunteers helped Mesquite homeowners in need of assistance with landscaping and other minor exterior projects. Learn more.

Hazard Mitigation Action Plan Logo

City of Mesquite requests input on new Hazard Mitigation Plan


The City of Mesquite is updating the Hazard Mitigation Plan. Mitigation planning is a process to identify sustained actions to reduce or eliminate a long-term risk to people and their property. The City invites residents to provide input on the proposed Plan to get a better understanding of what types of disasters concern them the most. Between Oct. 8 to Oct. 14, residents can visit www.cityofmesquite.com/MitigationPlan to view the draft plan and complete an online survey.

U.S. 80 Construction

TxDOT construction begins on SH 352 to U.S. 80

Mesquite residents have access to COVID-19 recovery caseworker


As a part of their ongoing Recovery Mesquite efforts, the
City of Mesquite announced Mesquite residents have
access to a Spanish bilingual caseworker to aid them in
submitting applications through Catholic Charities Dallas
(CCD) for COVID-19 economic assistance funds for
rental or mortgage payments, utility bills and other related expenses. Learn more.
