The City of Mesquite held a private, sunrise memorial today to commemorate “Patriot Day” which is the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. Watch the ceremony. Learn more.

Mesquite Police Department offers free VIN Etching


On Sept. 16 the Mesquite Police Department's Auto Theft Division will be conducting free VIN etching on car windows. MPD will be there from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Sears located at Town East Mall. VIN etching is the permanent engraving of a vehicle's federally registered vehicle identification number (VIN) onto its windshield and windows. It takes about five minutes per window and is free for all Mesquite residents. Learn more.

Keep Mesquite Beautiful holds Trash Bash on Sept. 19


Keep Mesquite Beautiful (KMB) will hold its volunteer cleanup event, Trash Bash, on Sept. 19. Trash Bash is an opportunity for families, neighbors and groups to get outside and help beautify the Mesquite community. In keeping with the public health guidelines, volunteers will be asked to follow current health protocols for wearing a face covering, social distancing and sanitizing. Volunteer groups will be limited to 10 people per group and volunteers will be provided trash grabbers, safety vests, disposable gloves and trash bags during a curbside pick-up from 8 - 9 a.m. Volunteers are asked to register by 9 p.m. on Sept. 18. Support Mesquite non-profits on North Texas Giving Day


Early giving is now open for North Texas Giving Day. From now until Sept. 17 make a donation to a Mesquite non-profit, like the Mesquite Arts Council, Historic Mesquite, Inc. and the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra.

Mesquite helps local NAACP secure $5,000 for new mental health initiative


Last week, Dallas Regional Medical Center donated $5,000 to support the new Mesquite NAACP Behavioral Health Scholarship Initiative to offer funding to minority students in the Mesquite Independent School District who want to pursue a degree in a mental health profession. The donation was presented by Dallas Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Glenda Matchett to Mesquite NAACP President Henry Brown and along with City of Mesquite Mayor Bruce Archer during a ceremony at Mesquite Municipal Center. Mesquite announces 300 new jobs as part of FNA Group expansion


The City of Mesquite announced the FNA Group is expanding to Mesquite with a new 400,000 square-foot manufacturing and distribution center located at 1371 S. Town East Boulevard. This new facility will provide an estimated 300 new jobs for Mesquite. The FNA Group, headquartered in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin is a leading manufacturer of gasoline and electric powered pressure washers, generators, pumps, high pressure hoses, accessories and the replacement parts. City of Mesquite announced Mesquite residents have
access to a Spanish bilingual caseworker to aid them in
submitting applications through Catholic Charities Dallas
(CCD) for COVID-19 economic assistance funds for

The City of Mesquite and Mesquite ISD want to remind everyone that Mesquite schools will open to students Sept. 14. Drivers are asked to pay attention, watch for children and stop for school buses. Mesquite announces final phase of brick sales for new Mesquite Veterans Memorial


The City of Mesquite announced the final phase of public brick sales for the new Mesquite Veterans Memorial currently under construction at 425 S. Galloway Avenue. A limited number of bricks are available to the public and the final phase sales will end Dec. 18. Bricks may be purchased by visiting www.MesquiteVeteransMemorial.org to order online or to download an order form. Learn more.
