The Mesquite Police Department (MPD) is seeking participants for its next Citizens’ Police Academy. The 12-week program will begin September 20, and space is limited.
Community interaction is a crucial element of MPD’s crime-fighting philosophy. MPD makes every effort to work with the community to identify and resolve problems that affect crime rate and quality of life in our city. The Mesquite Citizens’ Police Academy provides residents an opportunity to see and hear firsthand the curriculum that recruits must master before wearing the MPD uniform. The goal is to increase public understanding of police work and to develop effective police-community partnerships.
Classes will take place on Thursday evenings from 7 – 10 p.m. at the Mesquite Police Department, 777 N. Galloway Ave. Classes are led by the Crime Prevention Unit in conjunction with Mesquite police personnel.
Apply online through 5 p.m. on August 24. Learn more about the Mesquite Citizens’ Police Academy and apply by visiting www.cityofmesquite.com/CitizensPoliceAcademy.
