Two updates on crimes

Update- Double Homicide

On June 12, 2018 at about 4:00 pm, the Mesquite Police Department received several reports of gunfire in the area of Gus Thomasson Road at Whitson Way.  Upon arrival, officers located two gunshot victims.  Jacob Bradley Hollett 19, of Mesquite was found with several gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a gray Nissan.  Nearby, Dalton James Prater 18, of Fate, was found shot to death sitting in the driver’s seat of a red Dodge pickup truck.  Hollett was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

There are two suspects in the shooting.  Investigators believe that the shooting is a result of a drug robbery.   The suspects met with the victims under the pretense of buying marijuana from the victims.  Suspect #1 produced a handgun and demanded the drugs.  Hollett, the first victim, attempted to drive away and was shot numerous times.  Prater, the second victim, was sitting nearby in the red pickup. Suspect #1 then shot Prater, striking him several times.  Suspect #1 then entered the suspect vehicle and suspect #2 drove the vehicle away from the scene.

Update: The Mesquite Police Department has arrested Cassius Shakembe Williams, and Rozman Rah-saan Shannon Jr., who are residents of Garland. Both suspects have each been charged with two counts of Capital Murder. The bonds for all four charges have been set at $500,000 for each charge.

Update- Vehicle Used in Aggravated Assault

On June 2, 2018 at about 7:10 pm, police communications received a 911 call.  The caller stated that a hit and run collision had occurred on Westbound US Hwy 80 at IH 635. A group of motorcyclists had been traveling on Westbound US Hwy 80 when a white Chevrolet Silverado began tailgating them. A road rage incident then ensued over the actions of the Silverado driver.  The motorcycles stopped on the shoulder, as did the Silverado, and the driver exited the truck. The group argued, and the driver of the Silverado went back to his pickup and quickly drove off. While pulling onto the main lanes of the highway from the shoulder, the suspect driver swerved the truck back towards the shoulder and struck one of the motorcyclists with the front right corner of the truck. The victim was thrown approximately 10 feet from the point of impact.  A passerby recorded the incident, and turned the video (attached) over to Mesquite PD investigators. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local urgent care facility.

Update: On Monday June 18, 2018 the suspect driver was arrested. Corey James Graham, 27, who is a resident of Sunnyvale was charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. His Bond has been set at $100,000.
