Mesquite, TX – March 13, 2018 – Mesquite Animal Services achieved more than a 93 percent “save rate” in 2017, the highest rate ever accomplished by the Shelter. This significant accomplishment was made possible through the implementation of many programs and policy changes identified in the 2016 Animal Services Strategic Plan.
Recent improvements include a feral cat holding room and Trap-Neuter-Release program, a veterinarian care contract providing daily health inspections of all animals in the Shelter, strengthened relations with local rescue groups, adoption specials and various special events.
Manager of Animal Services Jeanne Saadi said, “This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our Shelter staff and volunteers. We must also recognize and thank local rescue groups for their invaluable partnerships and the support we receive from the Mesquite community.”
The Animal Services Strategic Plan was developed to guide operations through the year 2021 and define necessary steps to address long-range needs. The complete plan can be viewed at www.cityofmesquite.com/AnimalServices.
