Mesquite, TX – November 21, 2017 – Christmas in the Park is Mesquite Parks and Recreation’s largest annual event to kick off the holiday season. The event will be held at Westlake Park, 421 Gross Road, on Saturday, December 2, and Sunday, December 3, from 1 - 6 p.m. This family-friendly event grows each year and will include new décor, performances and activities.
This year participants can look forward to free carnival games at Rudolph’s Reindeer Games, enjoy a larger assortment of concession choices at Buddy’s Buffet and participate in the Ugly Sweater and Name that Carol contests. Children can visit the new Winter Woodlands village for a variety of free make-and-take crafts.
Returning this year is the “Here Comes Christmas” parade, which includes festive, lighted floats. The parade will proceed through the center of Westlake Park each evening at 6 p.m. Many traditional activities will return such as the hayride, live nativity, and pictures with Santa.
Christmas in the Park is designed to be a low cost event for families to celebrate the holiday season. Many of the attractions are free such as roasting marshmallows on the yule log, Mrs. Claus’ story time, cookies with hot cocoa and character pictures. A fireworks finale will end the day’s event at the conclusion of the parade on both days.
