Mesquite to host annexation public hearing
7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 26
Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, 15515 IH 20 at Lumley Road, Mesquite, TX 75181
Mesquite, TX – October 25, 2017 – The special public hearing on annexation scheduled for October 26 at Heartland Fellowship Baptist Church, 8283 Union Hill Road Forney, TX 75126 has been changed to a new location and a new start time. The public hearing will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the first floor auditorium at the North Texas Regional Training Center of the Texas A&M University’s Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), 15515 IH 20 at Lumley Road, Mesquite, TX 75181.
City Manager Cliff Keheley said, “The City of Mesquite was informed by Heartland Fellowship Baptist Church yesterday afternoon they were rescinding their approval to host the meeting, and did not wish to have the meeting in their church or on their church property. In the spirit of public engagement on this important issue, we have relocated the meeting to TEEX. The new start time will allow the public additional travel time to the new location. The TEEX site provides the most reasonable location and accommodations for everyone in relationship to the proposed annexation areas. This will also allow the City of Mesquite to host this public meeting on the posted date of October 26.”
City staff will be at Heartland Fellowship Baptist Church to re-direct the public to TEEX and provide maps. There will also be signage and other efforts to communicate the new location and new start time for the public hearing.
