Mesquite, TX - August 15, 2017 - Today, Historic Mesquite, Inc. (HMI) received notice that the organization will be featured as one of the non-profits to benefit from North Texas Giving Day, a project of the Communities Foundation of Texas.
Since 2009, about 2,500 local non-profits have received funds from over $155 million in giving during a 24-hour period known as “giving day.” This year, that day is Thursday, September 14, from 6 a.m. to midnight
“The North Texas Giving Day is a wonderful way for those who support local charities to give as little – or as much – as they can,” said Charlene Orr, executive director of Historic Mesquite, Inc (HMI). “All donations are pooled together and the organization benefits from its supporters.”
Potential donors can visit the website – www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org – and choose the charity of their choice. Many topics are included, from animals, to community improvements, to education and women’s issues. HMI is listed under Arts, Culture and Humanities.
HMI is the fundraising arm of the City of Mesquite’s preservation program. Its board of directors and volunteers manage and operate the Florence Ranch Homestead and Opal Lawrence Historical Park, the City’s two historical properties.
