July 10, 2017 Update
At this point in the investigation, this incident appears to involve an ongoing dispute between the individuals involved, and not a random act of violence. Persons of interest have been identified, and the Mesquite Police Department investigators are actively pursuing all leads.

On July 7, 2017 at about 11:17 pm, the Mesquite Police Department responded to a shooting in progress at a park in the 4800 block of Shands Drive. Upon arrival, officers located two deceased subjects with apparent gunshot wounds. One of the decedents has been identified as Lazarious Harrell, an 18-year-old Mesquite resident. The identification of the second decedent is pending. Officers discovered that a third victim, identified as Tremone Dixon-Bagley, 19, also of Mesquite, suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to an emergency room by bystanders. The investigation is on-going. Mesquite Police Department investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for this offense.
