Mesquite, TX – June 10, 2017 – This weekend, City of Mesquite employees and motorcycle riders from throughout the community raised food, funds and awareness for food insecure children in Mesquite through the Spread the Love campaign.
On Friday, Finance Department employees donated 494 jars of peanut butter and jelly to the campaign. The donation will help make almost 7,000 PB&J sandwiches. Mayor Stan Pickett addressed employees during a ceremony at Mesquite City Hall. He said, “To see this is just incredible. Our citizens do not understand a lot times how much you love this city, and how much you give to the city. This is just one small piece of what you do for citizens.”
This morning, more than 50 motorcyclists participated in the Mayor’s Annual Motorcycle Rally to donate funds and PB&J. The bikers also generated awareness to the cause with a ceremonious ride in Mesquite.
Sharing Life Community Outreach and Mesquite Social Services receive all Spread the Love campaign donations and distribute them throughout the community.
