Mesquite, TX – March 17, 2017 – On March 3, the Mesquite Municipal Court held its largest warrant docket since implementing the docket program in 2015 due to increased activity from the Great Texas Warrant Roundup. The 2017 Mesquite Warrant Roundup resulted in a 41 percent increase in fines and court costs paid compared to last year.
A variety of tactics to increase participation in the program were used. The Mesquite Marshals distributed door hangers in several neighborhoods to provide information about the program and direct contact was attempted with outstanding warrant holders. In addition, the Communications and Marketing Department produced a public service announcement in both English and Spanish to inform the public.
The Great Texas Warrant Roundup is an annual statewide effort to clear outstanding warrants and violations. The program runs from late February through early March with over 300 law enforcement agencies participating. For more information, visit texaswarrantroundup.org.
