The City of Mesquite has named Javan Gonzalez as the new Visit Mesquite Manager, effective Oct. 1.
Gonzalez is an award-winning digital marketing professional with a decade of experience in both the public and private sectors. He joined the Visit Mesquite team in April 2023 as the Marketing Coordinator.
“Javan has been a tremendous asset since he was hired, and we are excited to have him step up into this role,” said Kim Buttram, City of Mesquite Director of Economic Development. “Javan is innovative and creative. He has already raised the City’s profile and reach, especially on our social media channels.”
Gonzalez previously managed daily operations for Experience El Dorado (Kansas), the city’s Convention & Visitors Bureau. In El Dorado, Gonzalez and his team launched community events including the annual City of Gold Festival, the El Dorado Farmers Market and El Do Kid's Week.
His professional experience also includes developing marketing plans and materials as a campaign manager with Ad Astra Agency and creating content and managing social media accounts with JAG Media as a digital marketing director.
As the Visit Mesquite Manager, Gonzalez will oversee the Visit Mesquite Coordinator and the Visitor Center Specialist.
Founded in 1988, Visit Mesquite is the official destination marketing organization for the City of Mesquite. Annually, Mesquite has approximately 1.6 million visitors, including leisure travelers and convention attendees, who spend an average of $143 per person during their stay.
