Mesquite, TX, Sept. 29, 2023 - The City Manager's Office, Public Safety, and the Communications & Marketing Department have designed a week’s worth of events to celebrate Public Safety Appreciation Week from Oct. 2 to 6. The City will host several events throughout the week ending in the annual First Responders Football Game on Friday, Oct. 6. The week's schedule is as follows.
Monday, Oct. 2:
- Fire engine at Wildwood Baptist Church: 11 a.m. – noon, 531 S. Walker St. Mesquite, TX 75149, for a home school co-op visit.
- Fries with a Firefighter, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Chick-fil-A, 1600 N. Town East Blvd., Mesquite, TX 75150. Fire engine on location for one hour.
- Public Safety Appreciation Week Kick-Off: 7 p.m., Council Chambers, 757 N. Galloway Ave. Police Officer, Firefighter and Dispatcher lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the Council meeting.
Tuesday, Oct. 3:
- National Night Out: Police, Fire, and City staff will visit National Night Out events. Visit www.cityofmesquite.com/NationalNightOut for a listing of locations and more information.
Wednesday, Oct. 4:
- Fire Engine to Walk, Bike, and Roll: 7 – 7:50 a.m. at Cannaday Elementary School, 2701 Chisolm Trail, Mesquite, TX 75150, promoting kids being active.
- Fire Engine and Ambulance 3 at Rugel Elementary School: 9 – 10 a.m., 2701 Sybil Dr, Mesquite, TX 75149, to read to students.
- Burgers with a Badge: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Braum’s, 3506 N. Galloway Ave, Mesquite TX 75150. Enjoy a meal and interact with public present. Fire Engine present for one hour.
Thursday, Oct. 5:
- Coffee with a Cop: 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. - at two McDonald’s locations: 2012 W. Scyene Road, Mesquite, TX 75149, and 1444 S. Beltline Road, Mesquite, TX 75149. Back the Blue coffee sleeves for public participants while supplies last (100 available, 50 at each location).
Friday, Oct. 6:
- Fire Engine at Porter Elementary: 10 – 11 a.m., 517 Via Avenida, Mesquite, TX 75150. Firefighters to read to students.
- First Responder’s Game: 7 – 11 p.m., Mesquite Memorial Stadium, 2500 Memorial Blvd. Mesquite, TX. Mesquite High School vs. Horn High School.
