Mesquite Parks and Recreation is hosting a pair of fall family-friendly events in October.
First up on Saturday, Oct. 7, is the final Movies in the Park event of the year with a screening of “The Addams Family 2.” Pre-show entertainment at the free event will begin at 7 p.m., including face painting, basketball, volleyball and light concessions. Attendees are invited to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs. Concessions will be available for purchase from Fera’s Grill food truck. The movie starts at dusk at Rorie-Galloway Day Camp, 3100 Lawson Road.
On Saturday, Oct. 21, the City will host its annual PumpkinFest from 12-5 p.m. The free event will feature a new hay maze and hay ride this year. PumpkinFest also will include three competitions: a costume contest for kids and adults, a dog costume contest and a pumpkin-pie eating contest. Enjoy the pumpkin patch, carnival games and bounce houses as well as face painting and performances on the community stage. There will also be an arts and crafts area plus a large trick-or-treating area. Fall-favorite food truck concessions will be available for purchase. PumpkinFest will be held at Paschall Park, 1001 New Market Road.
