Mesquite, TX – August 30, 2022 – The City of Mesquite and Dallas County officials celebrated the reopening of a reconstructed portion of Town East Blvd today. Both organizations participated in upgrading the strength of the pavement of Town East Blvd from Forney Road to Skyline Drive to withstand the high volume of heavy traffic the roadway receives. In response to public input, the roadway was also reduced from six to four lanes with the lanes moved away from the residential area to provide a buffer area that includes a hike and bike trail and new screening wall, which extended the trail system to Westover Park.
“Not many people realize the importance of Town East Blvd to our economy and to the entire region,” said Mesquite Mayor Daniel Alemán Jr. “The amount of jobs and commerce that take place on this roadway make it the most important roadway in our community.”
The total cost of the project was $12 million which was funded by both the City of Mesquite Dallas County. This is the completion of the second phase of the roadway project. The City of Mesquite and Dallas County will continue their valuable partnership with the rebuilding of Skyline Drive from Town East Blvd to Peachtree Road beginning in in 2023.
