Mesquite, TX – Aug. 23, 2022 - Mayor Daniel Alemán, Jr., expressed his sympathy today for the loss of life and thanked City staff for their response in this statement today.
“Yesterday, our city experienced a historic rain event that impacted many people. First, I want to extend my prayers and condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life in the storm. Next, I want to commend our City staff on their heroic efforts to protect citizens from this storm. Police, Fire and Public Works personnel worked tirelessly all morning to block roads and help stranded motorists,” stated Mayor Daniel Alemán, Jr.”There were numerous examples of how our staff responded to this emergency in a manner that should make our citizens proud.”
“Finally, I want to encourage all residents to reach out to your neighbors and offer assistance. Many homes experienced flooding, roof damage or other debris that will need to be removed,” continued Alemán. “Please, talk to your neighbors and see how you can help.
