Mesquite, TX – June 24, 2020 – The U.S. Census Bureau is joining the Texas Counts Campaign on a virtual road trip this week, bringing awareness to the Census to all regions of Texas. On June 25, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., the City will welcome the Area Census Office to Mesquite City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Ave., to assist residents with completing their 2020 Census. All social distancing and health guidelines will be implemented. There will be Spanish bilingual assistance and smart devices available to complete the Census online. Census staff will answer questions and have public education materials to distribute.
The purpose of this campaign is to increase self-response rates across Texas with a week of get-out-the-count efforts led by local communities. The 2020 Census helps ensure a complete and accurate count of all communities in the United States, which helps guide hundreds of billions of dollars in public and private sector spending per year for the area and state of Texas.
As a reminder, anyone can complete their 2020 Census by texting 313131 with the message icount2020 to access the online Census.
