Mesquite, TX – May 19, 2020 – The 16th Addressing Mesquite Day (AMD) will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020. This annual one-day event is hosted in partnership with the Mesquite Ministerial Alliance and focuses on assisting senior citizens, single parents, military veterans and disabled homeowners in Mesquite with minor exterior home pairs, painting and landscaping projects. This event matches community volunteer groups with the homeowners in need of extra assistance. If you would like help on a project at your home, fill out the online request form or download the form and return it by June 26, 2020.
The City of Mesquite is requesting volunteers to sign up for Addressing Mesquite Day. Every organization that wishes to volunteer will be assigned a local house or yard project to make a difference in a fellow residents’ life. First select a Group Leader for your team. Most groups consist of 10 or more volunteers, however no group is too small. Last year, City staff and Council members teamed up with clubs, businesses, civic and faith-based organizations to make exterior repairs to 98 homes with more than 1,100 volunteers. Area businesses also provided $50,000 in monetary and in-kind donations to assist with the event.
