Mesquite Historical & Genealogical Society's Fall Workshop

The Spring Workshop will be led by: Debbie Parker Wayne Certified Genealogist, Certified Genealogical Lecturer (sm), is a full-time genealogist experienced using laws and DNA analysis, as well as more traditional techniques, for genealogical research. She previously worked in the computer industry doing support, training, programming, and Web design. Debbie is a Trustee for the BCG Education Fund, the Texas State Genealogical Society's DNA Project Director, a former board member and Advocacy Committee Chair of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), and former president of the Lone Star Chapter of APG. Debbie has completed many courses at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) and the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), including advanced methodology courses at both institutes and the Advanced Law Library and GovDocs course at IGHR. She is part of the core staff at Angelina College Genealogy Conference and spoke on DNA at Texas General Land Office'

ORGANIZING FOR RESEARCH AND SHARING: PAPER AND ELECTRONIC FILES: This lecture is a must if you have either paper or electronic files - and which genealogist doesn't have files? Covered is a comparison of organizational methods, organizing your files for easy accessibility and sharing information.

ONLINE SEARCH TECHNIQUES OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL GENEALOGISTS: This lecture gives tips on advanced search techniques and less-known sites, how to track online activities in a research log, and how to locate new online sources to meet your genealogical research goals.

FINDING ONLINE BOOKS AND JOURNALS: Google Books is only one place to look for electronic versions of books and journals. There are many websites that provide access to publications critical to family historians.
