Fair Housing is the right of every person to have access to adequate housing of that person’s choice. It is unlawful to deny a person of this right because of race, color, sex, religion, handicap, familial status, or national origin. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations also extend certain protections regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, and marital status.

Discriminatory advertising, terms or conditions in providing services in connection with the sale or rental of housing Blockbusting or frightening people into moving out of a neighborhood is also illegal.
