Fair Housing


Descripcion General

Fair Housing is the right of every person to have access to adequate housing of that person’s choice. It is unlawful to deny a person of this right because of race, color, sex, religion, handicap, familial status, or national origin. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations also extend certain protections regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, and marital status.

Refusal to sell, rent, or lease because of race, sex, religion, handicap, familial status, age, or national origin. Discriminatory advertising, terms or conditions in providing services in connection with the sale or rental of housing Blockbusting or frightening people into moving out of a neighborhood is also illegal. 

How to File a Housing Discrimination Complaint

If you feel you have experienced housing discrimination and wish to file a complaint, you may click here to download and fill out a fair housing complaint form. After printing the form, you may:

  • Fax the form to 972-329-8340
  •  Email the form here
  • Deliver the form in person between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to the Housing and Community Services Building located at:

  • Mail the form to the City of Mesquite at:
