On October 19, 2020, the City Council approved Ordinance No. 4820 amending the requirements for coin-operated amusement devices. A coin-operated amusement device, also called a coin-operated machine, is any kind of machine operated by or with a coin, U.S. currency, metal slug, token, electronic card, or check including music, skill, or pleasure. The purpose of this amendment is to ensure that the use of coin-operated amusement devices will not have adverse effects on nearby properties.
Please use the Coin-Operated Amusement Device Guide to review the new requirements and determine if a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) will be required to have coin-operated amusement devices within your business.
If you have additional questions, please contact the Planning & Zoning Division at 972-216-6216.
All establishments with coin-operated amusement devices must be in compliance with the new requirements no later than January 1, 2021.
