You and your neighbors have been selected by the City of Mesquite to participate in a test program of new trash carts to use in disposing of your trash. Read a letter from the City Manager to solid waste customers.
Your trash cart will be stamped with a serial number to identify which cart has been assigned to your address. The first day of trash collection with the new trash carts will begin in June and the test program is expected to end in November. The City will evaluate the effectiveness of these new trash carts in an effort to reduce community litter from wind-blown trash. After six months, the City will evaluate the program and the City Council will decide if the program should be continued city-wide, and if there will be any additional costs to customers. If you have any questions or need help with your new trash cart, please contact our Solid Waste Division: 972-216-6285, [email protected]
A few reminders with use of all trash carts:
- All trash must be in plastic bags.
- Bags can not weigh more than 50 pounds.
- Place bags inside the cart with the lid closed.
An additional cart (see pricing below) may be purchased by residents within the test program area by contacting Solid Waste at 972-216-6285 or emailing [email protected]. Residents may pay by check or cash either to a Solid Waste Supervisor at your home or at the City's Convenience Center at 3550 Lawson Road. Residents also have the option to pay by credit or debit card with the City Cashier at 777 N. Galloway Avenue.
