Water Conservation Plan

On September 21, 2015 the Mesquite City Council adopted a new Water Conservation Plan and a new Drought Contingency and Emergency Management Plan as required by the Texas Development Water Board and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  Because these plans must be updated every five (5) years, both the 2019 Water Conservation Plan and the 2019 Drought Contingency and Emergency Management Plan are now available for review and comment by the public.  For questions or comments regarding these plans, please email Kathy Fonville at [email protected] or call 972-329-8300.

The City of Mesquite receives treated water from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) which consists of 13 member cities and 31 direct customer cities. The NTMWD is continuously planning for the region's population growth and future water demand. It is now estimated that over 25% of future water supply for our region will come from conservation efforts. Both the City of Mesquite and other NTMWD member cities have adopted practices and regulations to conserve our limited water resources.
