2017 Meritorious Conduct Awards

Each year the Meritorious Conduct Board reviews recommendations for employee awards based on outstanding acts or performances in which a citizen or officer demonstrates superior public service. This year 30 individuals were honored for their professional and courageous service. The following individuals were presented with their respective awards on April 17, 2017 at the Mesquite City Council meeting.

The Officer and Civilian of the Year Awards

The Lifesaving Bar

 
The Lifesaving Bar may be awarded to any police employee for the saving of a human life or for prolonging their life to the extent that the victim was released to the care of medical authorities. The following individuals received the Lifesaving Bar:

Officer Richard Anderson, Officer Dustan Barrett, Officer Daniel Everett, Officer Ben Gregson, Officer Matt Heidelberg,
Officer Daniel Higginson, Officer Glenn Lang, Officer Joe Maddox, Officer Darren Marsack, Officer Tim Rountree, Officer Aaron Shedd and Officer Jeff Wilson.

The Certificate of Merit

 
The Certificate of Merit is awarded to police employees for outstanding or superior performance in any assignment over a prolonged period of time. Such performance is to be clearly defined as exceptional, placing them well above other officers or civilian of equal rank or grade. The following individual received the Certificate of Merit:

The Certificate of Civic Achievement

   


The Certificate of Civic Achievement is awarded to police employees who bring favorable recognition to the department through their involvement in civic affairs while acting in the capacity of an employee and representative of the Mesquite Police Department. The following individuals received the Certificate of Civic Achievement:

Officer Jeff Abbott, Sergeant Mark Bradford, Officer Steven Contreras, Sergeant Eamon Leydon and Officer Torrey Rhone.

The Citizen's Certificate of Merit

 
The Citizen's Certificate of Merit is awarded to citizens for outstanding service to our community. Such performance is to be clearly defined as exceptional. The following individuals received the Citizen's Certificate of Merit:

Frank Cuara, Ryan Hansen, Abe Ismael, Jacob Litrell, Mike Lopez, Yelter Rivera, Katie Robertson, Vicki Stewart and Jesus Vasquez.
