Current Water Restrictions

Watering of lawns/landscapes is limited to twice weekly.



Year Round Water Conservation Measures:

  • Lawn/landscape watering with sprinklers or irrigation systems is limited to no more than two days per week. Residents and businesses may choose their days to water to take advantage of any rain events.
  • Additional watering of landscape, if necessary, may be provided by hand-held hose, use of dedicated irrigation drip system and/or soaker hoses, provided no runoff occurs.
  • Watering is NOT allowed between 10 am and 6 pm between April 1 and October 31.
  • Operation of malfunctioning sprinkler system, excessive runoff, or any waste of water is prohibited.
  • Outdoor watering is not allowed during rain or freeze events.
  • Non-commercial car washing can only be done when using a water hose with a positive shut-off nozzle.

Variance Request

Customers may request a variance (temporary watering exemption) in the case of new construction or new lawn or landscape installation. If approved, the variance will allow additional watering for up to 30 days from the date of the new installation as needed.  To request a variance, please call 972-329-8300 or email kfonvill@cityofmesquite.com.
